Meta ads budget calculator
Set a Facebook and Instagram ad budget from what a result costs you, not from a number someone else uses. Nothing you type leaves your browser.
How it works
Daily budget per ad set = cost per result × results per week ÷ 7. Multiply by the number of ad sets for the total. With a budget you already have, results a week = daily budget × 7 ÷ cost per result, shared across your ad sets.
The default of 50 results a week is the figure most often quoted for leaving Meta's learning phase. The learning phase guide explains it, and the small business budget guide covers how to start and when to raise spend. Not sure what a result is worth? Use the break-even ROAS calculator first.
Questions people ask
How much should a small business spend on Facebook ads per day?
Work backwards from what a result costs you. If a purchase costs about CA$30 and you want an ad set to get enough results to learn from, the daily budget follows from that. A fixed number copied from someone else ignores your costs.
Why does the calculator use 50 results a week?
It's the figure most often quoted from Meta's help centre for an ad set to leave the learning phase. Treat it as a guide, not a rule, and change it if you prefer. The learning phase guide explains what it means.
What if I can't afford that budget?
Use fewer ad sets, optimise for an action that happens more often, or accept slower learning. Splitting a small budget across many ad sets usually means none of them gets enough results to read.
Should I use my break-even cost per purchase here?
Use the cost you expect to pay, then check it against your break-even cost from the ROAS calculator. If the expected cost is above break-even, fix the offer or page before you spend more.
Rather have someone check the plan?
The Growth Diagnostic looks at your offer, ads, site and follow-up before you spend more, then gives you a written 90-day plan.
